Solo Exhibition; “Daily Conversations”

I have an upcoming solo exhibition at Mudfire Studios, in Decanter, GA, February 10 – March 4, 2012. You can see the show here.

If you happen be in the area there is an opening reception February 10, 5-9 pm.

Other news, I have taken a position at St. Lawrence University, NY. I will be filling in for the spring semester for a faculty member who had to take leave. This will keep me busy, and wont be making much work of a while. My Etsy Shop will be closed for the time being.

I’m excited to have my second publication featured in the newest issue of Ceramics Technical No. 33 pg 87 – 91. It documents some experimentation I have done in the wood kiln around the ability to control flame pattern and mark making on the surface of work.

I will be a featured artist at AKAR gallery in September, 16 – 30th.

here is a blurb from AKAR about my work:

Shawn’s work is influenced by his family and upbringing in Maine. Family was very important growing up and he feels that handmade pots can offer the same feeling of comfort and warmth that family does. In Maine his family’s house was warmed by a wood stove during the winter. He always found the process of hauling, splitting, and stacking wood enjoyable. This carried over into his ceramic process.

Handmade for Japan

Studio potter, Ayumi Horie, is putting together a fund raising event to benefit the victims of the recent tsunami that devastated Japan. The auction, Handmade for Japan, will take place of Ebay, Thursday, March 24th, 8pm – Sunday, March 27th, 8pm. All the money raised will go to Glodal Giving’s Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund. Please spread the word about this great event.
